New student and alumni Scholarships in 2020
As part of the Australian Institute of Music’s 50th Anniversary, the institute will be offering a number of exciting new scholarships available to new students and alumni in 2020.
Available in 2020, our Scholarship Program encompasses a range of awards available to both domestic and international students at an undergraduate and postgraduate level with the intention of celebrating the talent, diversity, and leadership within AIM's communities and supporting access to AIM's courses. Student and Staff Scholarship Categories
Available for domestic and international students who demonstrate a high standard of academic achievement and/or are highly talented in the performance or creative arts area. This scholarship is also applicable for those who have demonstrated a high degree of leadership and strong involvement in community-based events.
Eligibility & evidence required:
- Have undertaken study in a program equivalent to an Australian Year 12 study or higher
- Commencing in an AIM degree program in 2020
Amount:
- Up to $5000
Selection Process:
Each applicant will be assessed on;
- Academic merit, leadership and/or musical qualities
- Extra-curricular activities
- Aptitude and commitment to studying and completing a degree at AIM
- Commitment to supporting, developing and contributing to better social outcomes in the music and creative arts community as well as the community within the scope of the scholarship category.
Available for high-achieving domestic and international students who are studying at either one of AIM’s collegiate International Pathway Partners.
Eligibility & evidence required:
- International: have undertaken an articulation pathway qualification from an approved international pathway partner institution.
- Not previously undertaken any other tertiary studies prior to commencing study at AIM.

- Up to $5000
Selection Process:
Each applicant will be assessed on;
- Academic merit, leadership and/or musical qualities
- Extra-curricular activities
- Aptitude and commitment to studying and completing a degree at AIM
- Commitment to supporting, developing and contributing to better social outcomes in the music and creative arts community as well as the community within the scope of the scholarship category.
These scholarships have been designed to offer students from diverse and otherwise disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to be seen and heard. Available to students of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander descent, students from the LGBTIQA+ community and those who have faced severe adversity in life.
Eligibility & evidence required:
- Must be an Indigenous Australian or Torres Strait Islander and provide confirmation to AIM, or;
- Identify as LGBTIQA+ and have demonstrated a commitment to the LGBTIQA+ community, and;
- Detailed descriptions or evidence of having faced adversity in life.
Amount:
- Up to $3500
Selection Process:
Each applicant will be assessed on;
- Academic merit, leadership and/or musical qualities
- Extra-curricular activities
- Aptitude and commitment to studying and completing a degree at AIM
- Commitment to supporting, developing and contributing to better social outcomes in the music and creative arts community as well as the community within the scope of the scholarship category.
Available for domestic and international students who demonstrate a high standard of academic achievement and/or are highly talented in the performance or creative arts area and applicable for those who have demonstrated a high degree of leadership and strong involvement in regional and community-based events.
Eligibility & evidence required:
- Evidence of involvement and contributions to the music and creative arts community in regional Australia
Amount:
- Up to $4000
Selection Process:
Each applicant will be assessed on;
- Academic merit, leadership and/or musical qualities
- Extra-curricular activities
- Aptitude and commitment to studying and completing a degree at AIM
- Commitment to supporting, developing and contributing to better social outcomes in the music and creative arts community as well as the community within the scope of the scholarship category.
Available for staff members of our Industry Partners who may be looking to gain a formal qualification from AIM or to high-achieving students within a specific industry or association.
Eligibility & evidence required:
- Evidence of employment at an approved AIM Industry Partner
- Reference and recommendation letter from the approved Industry Partner
Amount:
- Up to $3500
Selection Process:
Each applicant will be assessed on;
- Academic merit, leadership and/or musical qualities
- Extra-curricular activities
- Aptitude and commitment to studying and completing a degree at AIM
- Commitment to supporting, developing and contributing to better social outcomes in the music and creative arts community as well as the community within the scope of the scholarship category.
This scholarship is available to students who might otherwise find it difficult to gain access to education due to financial or personal circumstances.
Eligibility & evidence required:
- Proof of financial hardship
- Detailed descriptions or evidence of facing adverse personal circumstances
Amount:
- Up to $1500
Selection Process:
Each applicant will be assessed on;
- Academic merit, leadership and/or musical qualities
- Extra-curricular activities
- Aptitude and commitment to studying and completing a degree at AIM
- Commitment to supporting, developing and contributing to better social outcomes in the music and creative arts community as well as the community within the scope of the scholarship category.
Available for Alumni and/or their immediate family members once they have completed a Bachelors or Master degree at AIM.
Eligibility & evidence required:
- Completion of a Bachelor or Master degree at AIM
Amount:
- 15% of total fees
Selection Process:

- Aptitude and commitment to studying and completing a degree at AIM
- Commitment to supporting, developing and contributing to better social outcomes in the music and creative arts community as well as the community within the scope of the scholarship category.
