We're going to guide you through our application process, including all the important information and considerations you will need to take into account before submitting an enquiry to study with us at AIM.

Before you submit your application to study at AIM you should have an idea of what you would like to study or at least an idea of what area of music or the performance industry you're passionate about.

However, you may not know what course you want to study right away and that's fine, that's why our team is on hand to offer you guidance!

As a general rule, it's always a good idea to start with the end in mind. If you know what your end goal or dream job is we can advise you on which qualification is best for your career path.

UNDERSTAND YOUR ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 

DOMESTIC COURSE ENTRY PROCESS

Entry into all undergraduate and postgraduate courses at AIM for domestic students require the following procedures to be completed:

  1. Complete your Application Form.

  2. Portfolio submitted and interview/audition (if required) undertaken to review work and assess skills & aptitude to study
     
  3. Supporting identification and background documents provided (where required)
     
  4. Evidence submitted of your prior study: Year 12 or equivalent school results (for Bachelor and Diploma), or Bachelor degree or mature entry with experience (for postgraduate).

Our Sydney campus, located in the heart of Surry Hills one minute from Central Station, is an excellent choice if you want to mix practice and performing with a healthy, active lifestyle and eclectic arts scene.

SYDNEY CAMPUS HIGHLIGHTS

Three purpose-built theatre and performance halls for practical classes as well as public performances:

  1. John Painter Hall - AIM’s premiere concert hall, 270-seat capacity.

  2. AIM Theatre 1 - 80-seat capacity with full band set-up.

  3. AIM Theatre 2 - 60-seat capacity with black box theatre and sprung wooden dancefloor.

AIM Melbourne is a great choice if you want to mix your studies and performing with a culturally diverse and thriving arts scene.

Rated as the world’s most liveable city by the Economist Intelligence Unit for seven consecutive years (2010–2017), Melbourne is Australia’s second-largest city and a great choice if you want to mix your studies and performing with a bohemian lifestyle and rich arts scene.

You’ll have a variety of art and music- inspired galleries and museums on your doorstep. 


MELBOURNE CAMPUS HIGHLIGHTS

Melbourne is Australia’s live music & theatre capital. 

  1. Peter Calvo Auditorium - 160-seat capacity fitted with first-class performance equipment, digital mixing console, LED lighting rig, Yamaha grand piano and more.
     
  2. Industry-leading recording studios and music production suites stocked with professional software, mixing consoles, mics and more.
     
  3. Digital media lab with iMacs and midi keyboards complete with Pro Tools, Logic X and Ableton Live.

Campus is where the magic happens, where you meet friends, collaborate with peers on projects and utilise our state of the art facilities.

We have two world-class inner-city campuses that put the student experience at the core of their space and design; from creating spaces that encourage meaningful collaboration, innovation and creativity among students to other areas that promote spaces for quiet reflection and focus on academic study.

At AIM, we provide a variety of scholarship options for our students and place a great deal of emphasis on identifying, recognising and rewarding our high achievers.

Currently, we're offering scholarships across our Sydney and Melbourne campuses for  AIM future and current students. These scholarships apply for both domestic and international students and you can check your eligibility here!

Our Student Intakes at AIM are in January, May & September, so you have three intakes to choose from.

Our trimester-based system means that you have more flexibility to choose when you start and when you study, additional industry engagement opportunities, and the ability to move quickly through your degree and finish in two years instead of three, getting you out into the industry sooner.
 

The Census dates for 2019 are:

  • Study Period 1: 14 February 2019
  • Study Period 2: 13 June 2019
  • Study Period 3: 26 September 2019
