AIM ALUMNI NOMINATED: 2020 NATIONAL JAZZ AWARDS

 

Amongst the top 10 finalists announced for this years Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues, National Jazz Award 2020, are 3 of AIM's very own and we couldn't be prouder!

Congratulations to nominees, Joshua Kyle, Harriette Allcroft, Brianna Cowlishaw.

 

OUR NOMINEES

 

 

Joshua Kyle

Josh Kyle is a creative and talented vocalist who already has a wealth of awards and recognitions under his belt including the The Bell Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album and the APRA AMCOS Jazz Work of The Year in 2019. Josh is an Academic Lecturer and Program Leader here at AIM looking after Specialisation and Industry Portfolio’s. He graduated from The Australian Institute of Music with a Bachelor of Music (Hons) in 2008. 

Josh is appearing at the National Jazz Award Finals on Thursday the 29th of October at 7.30pm.

Briana Cowlishaw

 

Briana graduated from the Australian Institute of Music in 2008 with a Bachelor of Music (Contemporary) and since then she has been singing, songwriting, arranging, performing and teaching between Sydney, New York and London. Briana has released music under her own name and collaboratively, Briana most recently has joined the Australian National University School of Music in 2020 as a vocal tutor. Briana was the recipient of the ‘Artstart’ (2010) and ‘Skills and Development’ (2012) grant by the Australia Council for the Arts and was a finalist in the National Jazz Awards in 2012.

Briana is appearing at the National Jazz Award Finals on Tuesday the 27th of October at 7.30pm.

Harriett Allcroft 
 

Harriett graduated from the Australian Institute of Music in Melbourne with a Bachelor of Music (Contemporary) in 2016, and has also studied at the California Jazz Conservatory. Described as a mesmerising vocalist and composer, Harriett is best known for leading the Harriet Allcroft Quintet, performing original contemporary jazz, re-arrangements of Australian jazz music and a variety of classical standards. In 2019, Harriett was a finalist for the Jazz Bell Awards where she received a nomination for Best Australian Jazz Vocal Album for her debut album, Archie. 

Harriett is appearing at the National Jazz Award Finals on Friday 30th of October at 7.30pm.

THE FESTIVAL 


The National Jazz Awards are held as part of the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues. This internationally renowned event features jazz and blues artists from the USA, the UK, Europe, Asia and Australia, and this year the event will be streamed and available online.

You can buy your tickets and tune in from Monday the 26th of October.

The festival will run until the 1st of November.
