Advice for students, staff and the community regarding AIM and COVID-19.

The Australian Institute of Music shares the increasing concerns about the rapidly evolving coronavirus COVID-19 situation globally. In line with other higher education institutions in Australia we are committed to containing the further transmission of COVID-19 and protecting the wellbeing of our students.

It is critical that members of the AIM community remain as safe as possible, while ensuring minimal disruption to teaching and learning activities.

AIM is transitioning to remote teaching and learning with many classes already commencing online delivery as of the 23rd March 2020.

Our campuses remain open for those students who wish to utilise on campus resources with each campus implementing social distancing rules and a vigorous cleaning schedule.

It is important that all AIM students monitor their AIM student emails regularly for important updates and adjustments.

At this stage, there are no reported cases of COVID-19 from any AIM staff or students at either of our Melbourne and Sydney campuses.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THERE IS AN OUTBREAK AT AIM?

Students and staff will be contacted immediately with appropriate advice via email, SMS, social media and via the AIM website.

AIM is committed to supporting all staff and students in the event that there is a Coronavirus outbreak that affects our ability to deliver learning and teaching.

There are no reported cases from AIM staff or students on either campus.

All students and staff have been informed that they should stay home if they feel unwell or feel uncomfortable attending campus. AIM has implemented several online adjustments to learning and teaching which means we are able to accommodate our AIM community in this situation.

IS AIM STILL ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS TO STUDY IN 2020?

At this stage, AIM is still able to accept applications and enrolments for 2020. Portfolio submissions can be provided digitally and face to face auditions will occur online with our academic team.

We anticipate that all new starting students will be able to commence their units online and we are working on confirming this now.

Any student who is unable to commence with us in the next available intake (18th May 2020), will be deferred to commence in the proceeding intake. We expect that this will not be required and that all students will be able to commence learning with digital classrooms.

CAN I STILL VISIT AIM?

Due to the recent changes made by The Australian Government and NSW Premier, AIM campuses are now closed. All students are accessing AIM facilities online as best as possible.

In the meantime, those interested in checking out our Sydney Campus can watch the below video tour (Melbourne video coming soon!).
