Patrick Nellestein

a graduate of Music Composition and Production at AIM in 2007, was recently chosen to provide the music for 'The Australian of the Year Documentary' which was aired recently on Channel 9. Some of Patrick's music was also used in 'The 2008 Australian of the Year Awards' just before Australia Day. Patrick's music brief for the documentary was to be inspirational while maintaining an Australian sound. Niki Vasilakis
Past AIM student and virtuoso violinist Niki Vasilakis was named Young South Australian of the Year for 2007 & went on to be nominated for Young Australian of the Year nationally. Read her story at

Pearl Rapeeporn Pratum-Anon 

Masters of Music (Music Theatre).
Won 1st prize in the singing contest of Thailand called "Thailand Asia New Singer 2007. "I will be the representative of Thailand to join the Asia Singing Competition next year.... Beside the competition, I'm now working in the British International School here in Thailand called 'Bangkok patana International School' as a Vocal Coach. (

Geoff Rana (The Jefferson) 
Bachelor of Music - Honours - Contemporary Performance.
Geoff completed his studies with us in 2007. Geoff started the Jefferson in 2004 at AIM, and the band is now in the process of signing a deal with Veracity Music and start recording their first album. The 4 piece group are excited to put beds down for their new hits, ready for release in mid 2008.  We will keep you posted on the latest news regarding their time in the recording studio. Jiajing Wang (Melody)

In 2006  came third in the Senior Group at the Wieniawski Competition. She was also a finalist at the Menuhin Competition. Melody originally studied in her homeland of China at the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory School and since her move to Australia has been studying with Professor Peter Zhang at AIM.

Aaron Taylor

AIM Music Theatre graduate Aaron Taylor starred in the role of Pecorino Sasquatch, as well as his mother Mrs Sasquatch at the Sydney Opera House in 2008. Based on the popular picture book, Pecorino's First Concert was Aarons first paid theatre role following his graduation at the Institute. Aaron was one of the stand out students of the Music Theatre Department at AIM, and also played the major role of Tommy in the musical of the same name, which played at AIM during 2007. Aaron has previously performed at the Opera House in 2005 as part of Encore, the board of studies showcase for HSC students musical, and is currently the vocal director for the central coast production of High School Musical.

Zhu Wen

began study in China at the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music. In 2002 she moved to Australia and since then has won the Richard Goldner Award here in Australia and gained second place in 2006 in the Gisborne Competition in New Zealand.

Gu Chen

who has recently been appointed as the concert master of the Macau Orchestra. He has been a permanent member of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra since 2001. He is a formal student of Prof. Shixiang Zhang in China and Ms. Charmian Gadd in Australia. His other musical influences include musicians such as Lois Simpson, John Harding and Pinchas Zuckerman.

Clair Wenborn

Graduated with a Masters Degree in performance on the classical guitar from the Australian Institute of Music in 2004 and has been teaching here since 2003. In 2005 Clair recorded a solo recital for ABC Classic FM, which has received airplay in New Zealand and Australia. Other recordings include original compositions by AIM Dean 'Rafaelle Marcellino' (Radio National, 2005) featuring renowned international soprano Miriam Allan, and a special appearance on the latest album from 'Gelbison', a Sydney based band. Clair performed Concierto de Aranjuez as a guest artist with the Sydney Chamber Orchestra last year. She has appeared on “Mornings with Keri-Anne”, played on request for past Prime Minister Paul Keating and performed for Cyndi Crawford during her recent visit to Australia and has also impressed audiences at Bar Me, the Art Gallery of NSW, St Andrews Cathedral and supported charity events held by ‘ROAM’ (

Jen Veale 
Contemporary Performance - Voice - 2005.
'I now sing in a church gospel choir. I am part of the youth section - 'Heavenward'. We have just released our first CD called 'You Are The Joy In Me'. At my current uni, I've been involved in musical theatre productions also'.
