Do you have a song already written? Do you want to take your song to the next level? Learn how to produce, edit, engineer, record & mix it. This is the course for you. Bring your songs to life!

Book Your Place


Students will begin this course with an existing demo or fully written song. They will examine songwriting concepts that are vital to the production process, receive constructive feedback from their fellow songwriters and an experienced music producer, and create a professional recording. Students will study the art of music production, engineering and recording regardless of the recording equipment and software that they have access to. They will learn mixing, editing and recording techniques, enabling them to bring their song vision into fruition.

  • Song analysis and planning
  • Recording, editing and mixing techniques
  • Production Techniques


After completion you will:

  • Know the basics of producing and recording
  • Identify and use specific recording techniques
  • Understand and use MIDI production techniques
  • Complete a recording project using specific editing and mixing techniques


Pre-requisites

To attend this course, students must already have a complete written song that they are prepared to produce during the 6 week short course. Basic knowledge of a digital audio workstation (Pro Tools, Logic, GarageBand, Ableton, etc) is also strongly recommended.

What to Bring:

  • Demo recording of a song
  • Laptop and Headphones.


Certificate of Completion

Students who complete an AIM short course will also receive a Certificate of Completion.

Chloe graduated from AIM in March 2013 with a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Music Production. She has now started her own production company, Tin Shed Music Production, which works alongside Sunfield Records, recording and producing independent artists from Sydney and across NSW. Chloe plays in multiple bands, including folk band Liam Gale and the Ponytails who will be releasing their first album this year which Chloe co-produced and engineered, as well as psych-rock band Aether Beach which features other AIM graduates, and will be releasing an EP of her solo project later this year.
