Daniel Weltlinger is one of Australia's most unique and original musicians.
Of French-Hungarian-Israeli family background, Sydney-born Daniel Weltlinger is one of the world’s great violinists and composers and is highly acclaimed for his distinctive sound and improvisational approach in the genres of Gypsy-swing, jazz, klezmer, Classical and experimental/free-improvised music. He is frequently in demand as a solo recording/performance artist with some of Australia's top musicians in a variety of different formats, and is highly sought after both nationally and internationally for his technical and musical mastery on his main instrument having performed and recorded in Australia, Europe, China, the US and Israel with a host of acclaimed artists and ensembles including Monsieur Camembert, Nadya and her 101 Candles Orkestra, German-Gypsy guitar legend Lulo Reinhardt, Argentinian bandoneonist Joaquín Amenábar and Israeli jazz band Swing de Gitanes amongst many others.
Daniel graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Classical performance at the Sydney Conservatorium in 2001 having studied under luminaries including Janet Davies, Christopher Kimber and Wanda Wilkomirska. He also performed and toured across Australia and Europe in The Australian Youth Orchestra for several years, performing under world-renowned musicians including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Pinchas Zukerman, Robert Spano, Mikko Franck and Tadaaki Otaka gaining invaluable knowledge and experience in top level ensemble technique and performance.
As an educator Daniel’s multi-faceted teaching experience has included work at the Australian Institute of Music, Sydney Conservatorium High School and Emanuel School Randwick as well as many years of private tuition and workshops in jazz/general improvisation at major festivals both nationally and internationally including Hawkesbury Fiddle Festival, Brisbane Ozmanouche Festival and Djangofest San Francisco.
