Music Workshop

Tips from Industry Professionals

AIM's first ever intensive 5 day Music Workshop was held recently. The Workshop included masterclasses and collaborative tuition, where students learned performance tips and the tricks from top industry professionals, culminating in their very own live performance.

Feature International Student: Tak Tanimoto (Bass)

A well connected musician is a successful one

Tak Tanimoto is an international student at AIM, originally from Japan. Tak plays bass, and is completing his Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Performance this year. Tak says "the best part about studying at a place like AIM is the networking, meeting other musicians, gigging and connecting with people in the industry".

Surfs Up for AIM graduand

All-time classic surf film Morning of the Earth - the second highest grossing surf movie in history - is on tour with a live band, with AIM Head of Contemporary Jamie Rigg as Musical Director, and Katie Carr, AIM Bachelor of Music honours student and graduand on backing vocals.

AIM joins the ARMY!

AIM's final Soulfood performance for the year will take place on Nov 7 at AIM with a joint concert between AIM and the Army Band Sydney, celebrating 40 years of music together. Featuring Army Big Band, AIM singers and musicians in a collaboration of jazz, rock and contemporary music. Click for more

NEW Staff

Industry leaders come to AIM

AIM welcomes Dr Margery Smith, our NEW Head of Classical Performance. Margery is a composer/performer and collaborator in cross over arts projects, and brings a wealth of experience.

AIM also welcomes Paul Sammes, audio specialist, previously the National Sales Manager Aust/NZ for Digidesign, and now on staff with AIM in the Production Department. Students will benefit from one of the best in the business when it comes to Audio Engineering.
