AIM Music Theatre student Daniel Belle will be back in the spotlight next week when he performs two songs at the World Youth Day (WYD) festival concert. Daniel will perform Feeling by Michael Buble and Nella Fantasia (In My Fantasy) – an Italian song from the film The Mission – as part of the event’s celebrations at Luna Park.
Daniel said he was looking forward to the concert that will attract thousands of people. ‘‘I guess it won’t hit me until I’m up on stage but I’m sure it will be a great experience,’’ he said.
Daniel is one of several Australian Institute of Music performers who have volunteered their time to mentor and direct the younger school aged students who will also be performing at the event. He said he will be performing alongside students from Catholic Schools Performing Arts when the Pope arrives in Sydney on Tuesday, July 15.
‘‘I will be speaking to the students about what it’s like being up on stage, what they can expect and how they should go about things,’’ he said. The classical singer/songwriter is currently part of the trip-hop group Spook. While he has only released one album – Dusk Sessions – he said he was hoping to release a solo album early next year.
AIM students Katie Carr and Josh Kyle, Joseph Panuccio, Vianney Hunter, Ricardo Cancino and Sheena Wilbow will also be performing at the Luna Park World Youth Day Festival on 18 July.
Daniel, Joseph, Ricardo and Sheena will also perform on Thursday 17 July as the Pope arrives via boat-a-cade, and will lead singers in a choir of around 120.
