AIM joins album fundraiser

Australian Institute of Music Classical Performance students Shaun Stewart and Josephine Lumanau have been invited to provide the opening performance music for the new SIERRA FIN album fundraiser, 'Beautiful Blackout'. This unique performance opportunity was offered to AIM students when Sierra Fin's manager recently approached AIM in the hope of securing an opening act for the unique fundraising event, having worked with AIM musicians in the past. Shaun & Josephine are both currently studying a Bachelor of Music at AIM.

Sierra Fin

SIERRA FIN are a four piece outfit, and what they are attempting to create for their debut album, has not only never been done by an Australian independent band on debut, but it has never been attempted by an Australian band ... Ever!

For want of a better word it will be a 'concept album', a symphonic work where every song is linked to each other and forms part of a linear story, utilising the orchestra for almost its entirety.

SIERRA FIN have secured the likes of Aria Award winner Producer/Engineer Paul McKercher (Augie March, Sarah Blasko) as well as celebrated Australian Conductor Guy Noble, who amongst a staggering CV was the conductor of choice for The Beach Boys & Ben Folds Five concerts with the Symphony Orchestra.

On top of that they will be putting together the 'Sierra Fin Orchestra' which will be a handpicked 30 piece orchestra who will be recording the eleven track record with SIERRA FIN.

When: Sunday March 21, 2pm
Where:
The Annandale Hotel, 17-19 Parramatta Rd, Cnr Nelson St & Parramatta Rd, Annandale
What:
SIERRA FIN with members of a 30 piece Symphony Orchestra

SIERRA FIN are hoping that the release of this debut album will teach, inspire and motivate professional musicians as well as music students to the creative rewards of being bold and innovative in their compositions. In other words, they need not follow the industry's norm 'indie/rock' structure.

A fun silent auction will be held with the following items up for offer, Signed Silverchair & Missy Higgins Merchandise, Belvoir St Theatre tickets to see ‘The Sapphires’, Darlinghurst Theatre passes to their 2010 season, So You Think You Can Dance tickets, Classic Albums DVD Series, IRiver MP3 Player, Tooheys Extra Dry Cases, a Pure Well Being Massage + lots more. On top of that a monster raffle with JB Hi Fi Vouchers, a Magistic Harbour Cruise for two, a Broken Stone Records CD Pack, Clothing Voucher from Kisu, french champagne and cd packs galore up for grabs. All to support an ambitious and bold debut.
