Good Charlotte lead vocalist Joel Madden stepped onto the Australian Institute of Music (AIM) campus recently in preparation for coaching Channel Nine’s reality talent show, The Voice.

Joel worked in AIM's Q Studios with Audio and Sound Engineering graduate, Javier Garcia and Contemporary Performance student, Fenix Martinez on the keys. Joel came in the morning to record his own rendition of, ‘In My Secret Life’ by Leonard Cohen, for his own personal enjoyment.
Questioning his choice of song, Javier stated, “Joel picked a song he would never usually sing. He wanted to think outside the box and stretch himself outside his comfort zone.”

Joel’s humble nature was apparent during the four hours Javier spent with him. “Over the session what struck me the most was that Joel was so laid back and casual. Working with someone who has been around the block and worked with the big names and other professional engineers left me feeling quite nervous but it was a good challenge.”
Tune in to Channel Nine’s The Voice to see more of Joel Madden, along with Delta Goodrem, Keith Urban and Seal, as the four superstar musician coaches work with their personally chosen teams of twelve, based solely on an artist's voice - each one hoping to discover, and nurture Australia's next great voice!
AIM STUDENTS & ALUMNI THROUGH THE BLIND AUDITIONS Australian Institute of Music current students and Alumni have had a strong presence on the show. AIM would like to congratulate Mali-Koa Hood, Glenn Whitehall, Danni Da Ros and Chris Ninni for making it through the blind audition stage of The Voice. All the best with the Battle Rounds guys.
