Georgia Juliette: finalist in NA2R Radio showcase

Georgia Juliette AIM   Ten independent artists have been announced as finalists in this year’s New Artist 2 Radio (NA2R) showcase, the radio industry’s initiative to discover unsigned, independent music artists for commercial radio.

'One of those finalists this year is AIM Contemporary Performance graduate Georgia Juliette, who is certainly carving out a name for herself since her days at AIM'.

Last year's winner, Finabah saw success with their single Everyone Jump, including debuting at #9 on the Air Independent Singles sales chart and peaking at #5 in the Australian artists Top 20 airplay chart. The finalists were chosen from nearly 300 entrants by leading music and program directors of commercial radio stations, based on their commercial radio play potential.

Finalists attend a radio workshop with leading program & music directors & music marketing professionals in Melb on Sept 10.

MORE ABOUT GEORGIA

Hailing from Perth, GEORGIA JULIETTE has a contemporary and fresh folk sound, influenced by local musicians and bands including folk acts such as The Waifs and Little Birdy, as well as international legends like Cat Stevens, Sheryl Crowe, James Taylor, Ricky Lee Jones and Shawn Calvin to create a sound that is unique, contemporary and exciting.

Beginning early, the manifestation of GEORGIA'S love for music came through writing fresh, acoustic melodies on guitar at the age of 13. Coupling this with her natural knack for writing lyrics which creates empathy with her audience, she made the trip across Australia to Sydney, where she studied at the Australian Institute of Music, wowing both instructors and peers alike with her fresh take on contemporary acoustic music.

“Georgia is explosive on stage and has catchy and contemporary songs that her audience can relate to. I know we will see and hear more of Georgia and I look forward to it”. (Louise O’Sullivan, Marketing Manager, Australian Institute of Music).

After finishing her studies at AIM, GEORGIA quickly developed a strong following within the live music scene in Sydney, playing live shows at landmark venues such as The Vanguard, The Metro, Candy’s Apartment, The Annandale Hotel, The Hopetown, The Gaelic Club, Icebergs, Tokio Club and feature performances at Sydney’s Royal Easter Show. GEORGIA has also supported bands such as Tamarama and Chasing Baily.

In January 2009, she finished recording her debut EP, Love Affair, released at her EP Launch Party at Will & Toby’s in Sydney and Norfolk Basement in Perth. Filled with enthusiasm, promise and talent, Love Affair offers a familiar insight into the thoughts, experiences and heart of GEORGIA JULIETTE.

Currently GEORGIA is working on an album, a collection of her best songs to date. Her album is due to be released later in the year.
