Over the years the Australian Institute of Music has been extremely privileged to have received a number of donations which have helped to develop the library’s collection of materials.
Most recently a significant collection from the family of Wayne Geddes was gratefully received by AIM. Wayne Keith Geddes, a NSW based journalist and for many years Ministerial Press Secretary, sadly died earlier this year. In his passing however he left a musical legacy which his family and friends hope will benefit students at AIM. Geddes was an avid collector of music with an interest across a broad range of styles which has resulted in a wonderful and generous collection amounting to 120 books and over 4,000 CDs.
The staff at AIM Library are absolutely delighted with this donation which has more than doubled its existing audio collection. The library team are now working hard over the coming months prepare the CDs for students, allowing them to borrow audio for the first time. A number of music biographies are already in circulation and proving popular with both staff and students. AIM’s entire CD collection will now be known as the Geddes Collection as a tribute to memory of Wayne Geddes and the generosity of his family.
