The Australian Institute of Music presents its second Soulfood concert for 2011. ‘You’re The Voice’, is an interactive masterclass focusing on the Contemporary, Music Theatre and Classical genres. Under the mentorship of industry professionals, students will get the opportunity to learn about the vocal delivery of a song and the skills required in performing it effectively.
‘You’re The Voice’ will explore practice, preparation & performance methods & skills by: • Breaking down the information in a song including lyric, melody, rhythm, tempo and dynamic; • Building a performance based on a thorough understanding of the given information; • Bridging the singing voice with the speaking voice to create solid vocal technique; • Breathing life into song delivery by communicating a confident intention and a purpose; • Building appropriate and confident physical song connection including grooming and dress; • Delivering the song with musical accuracy, and delivering the lyric with intention and purpose; • Using language and the speaking voice to enhance the singing voice; • Connecting the music, lyric and feel; • Appropriate stylistic interpretation and vocal presentation, musically and physically; • Engaging with and communicating to an audience.
Choose a student from your school This will be an interactive performance/masterclass and schools will be asked to choose a student from their school to perform a song they are intending to perform in their HSC exam.
