Saturday ‘Shining Stars’ Concerts
One of the unique aspects of the Young AIMS program is the provision of weekly concerts. Performing is an art that must be learnt and practiced. Performing regularly also helps to solidify musical and technical development of instrumentalists and ensembles.
Every Saturday through the school terms, Young AIMS students have the opportunity to perform in free concerts. These take place at 11.00am in the John Painter Hall and 2.00pm in A204. All Young AIMS students are encouraged to perform and their participation must be endorsed by their instrumental teacher.
These concerts are open to the public - please take this invitation to attend and experience our students “aiming for the stars”.
How do I play in a Shining Stars Concert?
Once your teacher has endorsed your performance, please fill in a ‘Shining Stars Performance Form’ (available here or from Student Services) and return the completed form to Student Services. In order to have your performance included in the Saturday program, the information must be received by the Thursday preceding the concert. Students must make themselves available for either half of the concert time—and the concert order can not be changed on the day or after the printing of the Shining Stars program.
What do I do if I need an accompanist?
An accompanist is provided every Saturday for the 11.00am concert. They are also available to rehearse between 10.00am and 11.00am each Saturday. Student Services holds a rehearsal log where students can book in rehearsal times.
Can I receive feedback after my performance?
Yes, you can request a Shining Stars report to be issued after your performance. This will be written by the head of department or a senior staff member.
