Free Lunchtime Concert Series from AIM, featuring the exceptional talents of AIM students.
Violin, piano and vocals will grace the stage in a trio of classical music performances, designed to complement the current Music 2 HSC syllabus. The event will include Australian works composed over the past 25 years, with the renowned James Cuddeford, one of Australia's greatest violinists, and a presentation of the ‘Five Bagatelles’ for solo piano composed by award winning eminent composer Carl Vine, who will also be a special guest at the performance. AIM student Sarah Clark (soprano) will also demonstrate the exceptional talent of a classical vocal student studying at AIM.
Australian Institute of Music Dean and composer, Raf Marcellino will present compositional insights and analysis, and conduct an interactive forum with the performers and composers, focussing on their interpretation of the pieces and preparation for the performance. AIM will also provide attending schools with educational kits about the works performed. Attending students and staff will be able to gain valuable interpretative insights into how to understand and successfully perform these and other similar works.
This exciting performance will be directed and presented by students of our Classical Performance department. We would like to encourage students and teachers from your school to attend this event, as it will be an excellent opportunity for students studying music electives and HSC music to gain some insight into the richness of Classical Australian music, and what it means to study and perform music at a tertiary level.
