Soul Food - Dramatic Art
Edible Physical Theatre: a lunchtime showcase of physical theatre performance presented by the students of the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art (AADA). Sara Ritchie, former member of Circus Oz and past Artistic Director of CirKidz youth circus, choreographs hunger and thirst in a double bill of Edible Physical Theatre.
* This event will also feature an interactive forum and 1 hour Physical Theatre workshop.
Attention: HSC Drama teachers and students
You are invited to enjoy this lunchtime presentation of devised work by theatre students at the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art (AADA), a department of the Australian Institute of Music.
Year 12 teachers and students approaching the Group Performance of the Stage 6 Drama syllabus will benefit from seeing the work of tertiary student actors, directed by a leading performer and choreographer of physical theatre.
Soul Food: Edible Physical Theatre is a double-bill of 15-minute physical theatre pieces based on the themes of hunger and thirst. Using “recipes” and “wedding banquet” as starting points, these creative performers have built original works that are both funny and moving.
They demonstrate clear themes, dramatic shapes and structures. They provide each of the 9 performers an opportunity to show their performance skills.
The AADA students are directed by Sara Ritchie. Sara has performed for many years with Circus Oz and was the Artistic Director of Cirkidz Youth Circus in Adelaide.
