Julian Gough
Head of AIM High in 2008, Julian is originally from Adelaide and graduated with a Bachelor of Music, majoring on saxophone in 1985. In 1989 he formed and was Musical Director and Arranger for the swing jazz band ‘Monica and the Moochers’, recording two CDs and touring extensively nationally and internationally. This band was highly successful and Julian’s association continued until the mid 90’s. From 1995 to 2000 he branched out into arranging and writing music for larger ensembles, big bands, orchestras, choirs, as well as major television networks and production companies. In 2002 Julian worked for the United Nations in East Timor as Musical Director for the Handover ceremony from UN to Timorese control, and in 2005-2006 was Associate Musical Director of the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. The music was recorded in 12 countries, was played by two orchestras and 300 assorted musicians representing 40 countries. Julian has always enjoyed performing and has done so with a variety of celebrated bands covering a range of styles such the Warren Daly Big Band, Pardon me Boys, The Four Tops, Shirley Bassey, The Temptations and Midnight Oil.
