Diploma of Music | Composition & Music Production
Duration Four semesters minimum. A student must register and complete for 20 credit points per semester to complete the degree in four semesters. It is possible to register in as little as a single unit per semester. The maximum time for completion is 12 semesters.
Majors: All Diploma of Music students select a major when commencing the course. The major determines the set of units to be completed to qualify for the diploma.
Structure: The diploma structure requires students to complete units from four groups of units:
1. Major Studies - specialist units particular to the major 2. General Studies - units taken by all majors, consisting of musicianship, music theory and history subjects. Foundation Studies consist of history and theory classes that cover rudimentary and introductory knowledge. 3. Ensemble - taken by all majors, provide students with group performance knowledge and skills 4. Associated Studies - are units that support the student’s specialisation and include both mandated and elective units according to a particular major.
