Nick Freer

Academic Lecturer

Nick Freer is a Melbourne-based guitarist/composer with a keen interest in contemporary jazz-based improvisation. He holds a Masters of Music from Monash University.  

Nick has studied locally with David Jones and Elliott Gyger and internationally with Pat Martino, Joe Diorio and Tim Miller. Nick has performed extensively with various ensembles in the USA, Japan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand, Macau, China, Malaysia, South Korea, Germany, Poland, England, Indonesia and New Zealand.  

His compositional works include pieces for acoustic and electronic ensembles, some of which feature in the Australian Jazz Real Book.
