Ken Francis

Academic Lecturer

Ken Francis has been a musician since his teens. Ken has played guitar in rock, jazz, pop & R&B bands and toured with acts including Air Supply, Sharon O’Neill, Matt Finish, Rick Price and Tommy Emmanuel. 

Ken’s live work led to a decade as one of Australia’s busiest session musicians playing on a staggering number of recordings for feature films, documentary and TV shows, albums, and advertisements. His lengthy list of credits includes INXS, Hoodoo Gurus and the multi-platinum Crocodile Dundee soundtrack. 

Ken went on to join the team that establish market-leading music production company Song Zu as a senior composer before founding the Passionfruit Collective, a music & sound production company for marketing, television, feature film and new media.  

Ken’s music has been awarded locally and internationally, including Gold at the London Advertising Awards, APRA/AGSC Screen Music Awards, several ATV Awards, a silver AWARD pencil, a New York Festivals Silver and a World Gold award at the PromaxBDA World Awards for Television.
